Summer Luncheon
Greetings to all former
HS Field Reps, Marketing & Engeering types, in house reps, out house
reps, and support personnel from the Wlox Toy factory, cc: the few
stalwarts still at HSD.
Well folks, it's that time
of year again. An occasion for all stouthearted and valiant ex HSers,
former or recovering Field Service Reps to join together in a spirit
of reminiscent camaraderie of the H. Milton Std Customer Support Team.
Tuesday June 28th the day, Skyline at Bradley Field the venue, a cheap
$20 the cost, and noon the gathering time.
This being the 4th annual
edition of this rag sheet, please note a Friday publication day, as
is historical, feel free to download on yellow paper to confirm the
authenticity. This years turnout for the luncheon was 145 - 150 per
Ron Baer.
All former Sales, Service,
Marketing, Engineering, Contracts, Support, even a few Factory people,
along with some upper Management types. Guest speaker was the Prez
of the 360 Federal Credit Union.
Representing former Field
Service were; Bert Bolle, Dick Briggs, C. John Brock, Arline & Frank
Croce, Barbara & Charlie Dittman, Charlotte Dunbar, Phil Haynes, Barry
Newton, Helen Kessler, Tom Kissko, Al Reed, Fred Rogers, Paul Thibert,
Bill Tighe & Rod Wood. Worthy of special note: J. P. *Fenster* Poindexter
arrived in a brightly coloured tie and wearing a slick white dinner
jacket, elegant he was indeed.
Missing this year, usually
in attendance, were Vince Costello and Chet Heth, both of whom are
still working in the Propeller world, the latter still on the Lufthansa
Lockheed Connie project.
Also among the missing
were Len Agnew, Dom Bosco, Len Cotnoir, Werner Glatz, Sam Kosty, Dick
Landino, Ray Lingenfelter, John McCartan & Ed Trares, all of whom
sometimes attend.
Why, even Joe Melillo came
down from the woods of New Hampshire, full beard and all, to join
the Prop Engineering table, with Al Croxall, John Graff, Dottie Mayo,
Bill Percival, Leon Stoltze and others. Other notables from the word
of Engineering,
Sales & Marketifng were;
Leon Bailey, Jay Bedrick, Stan Cohen, Lois Daly, Ted Flanders, Ed
Fox, Eileen Longhi, Errol Matzke, Fred Morris, Rick Narowsksi, Lloyd
Oakes, George Randall, Al Ryan, Joan Trapanese, Ben Wennberg & Frank
Zuliani. Plus about one hunded more whose names I did not get or recognize.
Another yearly ladies lunch
was enjoyed up front at the Skyline by Ellen Reed, Carol Matzke &
Lise Tighe. Per Ron Baer, next HS retirees lunch planned for Tuesday
December 6, 2011, at the Skyline.
Word received recently
from Jim Bohanon, of Dan Civiello having suffered a stroke last April.
Danny is now recovering and living with his son in Branson, MO. We
recall Dan was the first HS employee to reach 50 years with HSD, which
included at least 25 or more of those based at TWA. While not present
at lunch, we are still in frequent contact with former Service colleagues,
now scattered around the globe, and not within shouting distance of
Windsor Locks, i.e. Australia, California, No & So Carolina, Florida,
Georgia, Germany, Hawaii, England, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada,
Pennsylvania, Texas & Washington. Yes, Jim Costello is still raising
Chickens, Jarl Johnson still traveling and working on ocassion, Chas
the Tuna Wittman traveling and enjoying the northwest, John Diver
remembering his Navy time, Bob Barry basking in the Aloha sunshine,
Sam & Barb Kosty in Nevada, Bill Kohanski & Ray Schmelter in the Carolinas,
Dave Porter in his English Country Garden, Glen Barbee on Lake Hartwell
in the Peach state, as is John Cucchi and Bob Jolie on the coast in
Savannah and Paul Holmes & Ed Trares inland. Al Chamberlin in the
Keystone state. Joe Dabek & Paul Stenberg in Florida. Charle Smith
still in Connecticut. Harold Wandell in Virginia. Larry Archer with
Boeing in Texas. Doug Hoover with Pratt &Whitney. We also hear from
Gerd Volkmann, retired and in Germany.
From the Prop Shop in the
Sky, we note the following recent inductees; Gerry Wadsworth, Bryden
Brown, Fran Morin, Bob Farnum, Bill Habicht & former HS Rep then with
Boeing - Earl Fessler, all of whom passed away this past spring. May
they rest in peace.

retired HS luncheon at the Skyline in Wlox.
Two stalwarts;
Jimmy *Fingers* Bohanon and Billy * Beau * Tighe, Jim flew in from
from Kansas City, Bill drove down from New Hampshire, conspired to
faithfully and proudly carry our '36 banner at the twice yearly HSers
Skyline luncheon this week. Our expense accounts will reflect a small
charge and will be submitted promp tly to Borrup/Geetter/Bousquet/Biermann.
Some 125 - 135
former HSD members were present for this December Holiday gat hering.
On site to join us, smiles and all, were; Messrs. ( & mesdames ),
Arline & Frank Croce, Barbara & Charlie Dittman, Wer ner Glatz, Errol
Matzke, Barry Newton, Al Reed, Fred Rogers, Paul Thibert & Rod Wood.
